in our first session we shall give a brief introduction to the Beatitudes. We shall then explore three of the beatitude in greater depth . Finally we shall look at our response to the Beatitudes and note the link between the Beatitudes and Baptism.

Rev Dr Alan David Falconer MA, BD, DLitt, Former Minister, the Cathedral Church of St Machar, Aberdeen

The Rev Dr Alan Falconer was minister of Aberdeen’s Cathedral Church of St Machar from 2004 to 2011. Dr Falconer life's work has been in the theology and practice of ecumenical reconciliation.

Alan Falconer joined the Irish School of Ecumenics, progressing to become senior lecturer and, in 1990, Director of the School.  He has also been a member of bodies such as the Irish Council of Churches Forum on Human Rights, and the Irish Council of Christians and Jews; and from 1988-90 he was Moderator of the Human Rights Advisory Committee of the British Council of Churches.

From 1995 to 2004 Dr Falconer was based in Geneva as Director of the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches.
