Worship for all at St Mary's Church, Thorpe

We have services throughout the week and on Sundays. We also hold special services at festivals such as Remembrance Sunday, Mothering Sunday, Christmas and Easter.

Monthly service of Healing and Wholeness

Christians believe that God calls us to wholeness and longs to heal us spiritually. Every Second Sunday at 11am in our Benedict Chapel we offer prayer for healing in body, mind and spirit.

St Mary’s Church Thorpe is a prayerful and beautiful place to be married, with over 1,000 years of history to help make your day extra special.

Countless couples have knelt before the High Altar at St Mary’s for prayers on their wedding day and we know that you will have a wonderful family occasion if you are married with us.

Its unique beauty and history makes St Mary's Church Thorpe the perfect setting for a baptism.

So many families have gathered around the impressive font to celebrate one of the key sacraments of the Church.

We will do everything we can to help prepare your family for this special occasion and we look forward to sharing in your celebration

At some time we will all need to arrange a funeral for a loved one. The St Mary's team are committed to helping you through the planning process and will lead a beautiful and moving ceremony; a celebration of life. The purpose of funerals is two fold:

First to aid the deceased in their passage to the next life, which Christians call heaven, and this remains an important factor for many. Second, but as important, to provide comfort and support for the bereaved - the family, friends, colleagues and neighbours of those who have died. We understand that grief is a normal response to loss and can be experienced in many different ways including pain, both physical and emotional, but also relief or even joy, as we celebrate life in its fullest sense. We do this at St Mary's as inclusive Christians, where all are welcome, loved and valued for who they are.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well. Psalm 139: 14
